Condors, Community Action Partnership of Kern and Rabobank renew fight against hunger (Press Release)

BAKERSFIELD, Sept. 22, 2017 — The Bakersfield Condors hockey team, Community Action Partnership of Kern Food Bank (CAPK Food Bank) and Rabobank N.A. are renewing their fight against local hunger with a three-week food drive committed to helping replenish CAPK Food Bank’s inventory in time for the holiday season.

From Monday, Sept. 25, to Friday, Oct. 13, community members can donate non-perishable, non-expired food items at local Rabobank branches. Collection times are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rabobank’s five drop-off locations are:

  • Gosford Branch, 3990 Gosford Rd.
  • Mt. Vernon Branch, 2700 Mt. Vernon Ave.
  • Riverlakes Drive Branch, 3800 Riverlakes Dr.
  • Stockdale Branch, 5151 Stockdale Hwy.
  • Truxtun Avenue Branch, 900 Truxtun Ave.

For every two food items, donors will receive a coupon for a free hot dog redeemable at the Condors’ pre-game, free-of-charge Party on the Plaza at Rabobank Arena’s Centennial Plaza Oct. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. There is no limit on the number of coupons that can be collected during the three-week food drive.

“Bakersfield is in the center of one of the world’s biggest agricultural-producing regions,” said Hector Garcia, retail market manager for Rabobank. “It’s important that we as a community fight hunger locally in addition to contributing to the nutritional needs of a growing world.”

This year’s goal is to collect 1 ton of non-perishable, non-expired food. The food drive will kick off at an event at Rabobank’s Truxtun Avenue Branch Sept. 25, at 8 a.m. Rabobank and food bank officials will be on hand.

“Kern County is no stranger to food hardship,” said Kevin Bartl, vice president of communications and marketing for the Bakersfield Condors. “The fans of Condorstown have always shown their generosity in helping our community. We are all committed to helping ensure that this year’s food drive makes a profound difference for local families in need.”
